What a tremendous day of swimming for Eva on Saturday 23rd March, she set a new national record in butterfly to become the English Schools’ Girls Junior 100m Butterfly Champion.
It was the first time in many years a pupil from Walthamstow Hall had been selected by the English Schools’ Swimming Association (ESSA) to take part in their Inter-Divisional Swimming Championships.
Eight regions were competing against each other at the K2 in Crawley over the weekend. Eva, in Year 7, was representing the School for the South East Division and swimming in the junior age category (for pupils in Years 7 and 8) in 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle as well as two relay events.
In the individual events Eva performed outstandingly to win a silver medal in the 100m freestyle before racing again in the 100m butterfly.
Eva won the 100m butterfly convincingly in a new ESSA Championship Record to become the English Schools’ Girls Junior 100m Butterfly Champion.
Later on in the day Eva swam in the relay events. She was an integral member of the 4 x 100m medley relay team which placed third to win the bronze medal. She then helped the 6 x 50m mixed open freestyle team come second, to win the silver medal.
It was a truly remarkable day for Eva where so much was achieved in one day. The school is extremely proud of Eva’s success for both Walthamstow Hall and the South East Division of English Schools’ Swimming. Huge congratulations to Eva from all at Wally Hall.
