This stash of exciting books will be consumed by Year 8, 9 and 10 students in the Carnegie Shadowing Book Club over the next few weeks.
The eight shortlisted titles include stories about coming of age in the C19th Philippine jungle, a poetess from Harlem and witchcraft and secrets in the time of Charles I.
The group has its first weekly meeting this afternoon. Students will choose which book they think should win the CILIP Carnegie & Kate Greenaway Children’s Book Awards. This is the UK’s oldest children’s book award and is judged by a panel of children’s and librarians.
