Congratulations to our Year 8 team who beat 18 other schools from London and the South East to win first prize at the Salter’s Institute Festival of Chemistry in London.
The Salter’s Institute promotes Chemistry education and its festivals offer students the chance to do practical experiments in the huge laboratory of Queen Mary University of London.
The day consisted of two practical challenges: The Salter’s Challenge 2019 and the University Challenge 2019, followed by an exciting Chemical Magic Demonstration.
Students had to complete a 75 minute practical experiment task and were marked not only on their scientific knowledge, practical skills and experimental results, but also their team-working ability and organisation.
Darcy, Caitlin, Sophie and Emily won the University Challenge, and were presented with their prize by the Head of Chemistry at Queen Mary’s College, Professor Marina Resmini.
