Fabulous author Caroline Lawrence came to Wally this week, giving our Year 7 and 8s an afternoon of inspiration and excitement.

Caroline is best known for her 17-book Roman Mysteries series of historical children’s novels. She gave a fun talk on how she gets her ideas and the craft of writing itself, including her seven points on how to write a great story.

It was a truly cross-curricular afternoon of learning, incorporating English, history and Classics. The author’s tales of Pompeii whetted the appetite of those heading to Rome over half term on the School trip.

We are happy to report it’s a two-way relationship; one Year 7 student is now proofreading Caroline’s latest book, checking that the language used by the child characters is authentic.
