Our young swimmers delivered outstanding performances at the South East Divisional Primary Schools Relay Championships at the weekend.
Alexia, Eva, Alexa and Emilie in Year 6 and Sophie and Maia in Year 5 had qualified for both the freestyle and medley relay events in the small schools’ category, at the Preliminary event in March.
In the pool at Guildford Spectrum, they produced a personal best time in the heats in both events, to put themselves through to two finals.
In the freestyle relay final the team finished just outside the medals in fourth place overall, narrowly missing out on an automatic qualification for the National Finals. In the medley relay final, they came fifth.
Walthamstow Hall Head Swimming Coach Mr Smith said he was proud of how the swimmers rose to the occasion to deliver their fastest swims in the competition: “Congratulations to all the girls who took part, it was truly an outstanding performance and a very exciting day with so much achieved. Also, many thanks to the parents who came along to support the girls.”
