Senior Sports Day Gallery 2022
Down House were the victors, but every student had their moment in the sun at our glorious Sports Day this week. Our top athletes thrilled us as they streaked ahead of the field; the less sporty received just as much appreciation for having a go and finishing their races. Each student took part in at least three events.
Well-trained academic staff helped the Sports Department to time the track events: 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m and to measure the field events: discus, shot, javelin, high jump and long jump. There were also pentathlons for students who wanted the extra competition. Some light compering from staff kept families spectating from the bank in the loop.
After a BBQ lunch for everyone, we had fun with the novelty Obstacle, Sack, Egg & Spoon and Beanbag races. House Captains ran or hobbled a three-legged race, there was a House squadron relay and finally, a staff v. Year 12 8x100m Relay.
Unfortunately a tumble at a baton handover half way through gave the teachers a huge advantage; undaunted, Head of Physics Mr Hill gave us a sprint finish to remember. Results:
