Walthamstow Hall has marked today with a number of acts of remembrance.
Year 6 led a thoughtful and reflective Remembrance Service this morning which included their own war poet inspired poetry and research on their family members who served in the World Wars. After the service the pupils spoke to Mr Horner, our Bursar, about his medals from his career in the Royal Navy. Thank you to the family of Katie in Year 4 for providing every pupil with a beautiful, knitted poppy to wear today.
At the Senior School, a Remembrance display in the Hub featured the beautiful postcards created by Year 9 as part of the Art project being led by Sevenoaks Town Councillor and Afghan War veteran Richard Streatfeild MBE. Year 11 Iona introduced a two-minute silence at 11am by playing The Last Post on her trumpet. The silence was brought to a close by her playing The Reveille. The School then assembled for a Prayers led by History Club which looked at the service of servicemen and women and the British Legion. The theme of service will continue as each Form has been asked to pledge acts of service for the week ahead.
