We are looking forward to welcoming our new Headmistress, Ms Louise Chamberlain to Walthamstow Hall on Monday 5 June.
Joining the School at the start of the second half of the Summer term will allow Ms Chamberlain to be fully involved in the consolidation of planning for the forthcoming Autumn Term, as well as affording her the opportunity to get to know the School community and to embed herself fully in the ethos of the School ahead of the next academic year. Ms Chamberlain has very much enjoyed meeting Walthamstow Hall parents, pupils and staff over the past few months and prospective Walthamstow Hall families at the Senior School Spring Open Morning.
Ms Chamberlain is a graduate of the University of Nottingham, where she obtained a BSc Honours degree in Applied Microbiological Science. She began her teaching career in 1995, as a teacher of Science, and went on to specialise in Biology, becoming Head of Biology at Worth School. Having previously experienced a variety of independent and maintained schools, Ms Chamberlain remained at Worth for 14 years, rising to become Deputy Head Pastoral. She joins Walthamstow Hall from CATS College Cambridge where she was Vice Principal.
Speaking about Ms Chamberlain’s appointment, Chair of Governors, Mrs Jayne Adams said, “Miss Ferro is a tough act to follow but we were gratified to find an extremely strong field of candidates applying for her position. We have conducted an extensive and rigorous interview and assessment process to find an outstanding successor. It has been a delight getting to know Ms Chamberlain during the recruitment process and Governors are confident that her combination of skills, experience and vision will make her a superb leader of our School.”
Ms Chamberlain said “I am delighted to be appointed as the next Headmistress of Walthamstow Hall. The warmth of the community drew me in from the start of the recruitment process, as did the atmosphere of intellectual curiosity and adventurous spirit – a fabulous combination! It is with great joy that I look forward to building relationships with the whole Walthamstow Hall family.”
