Four of our students competed in the International Competition for Young Debaters on Saturday, with one team finishing in the top five out of over 40 teams – beating speakers from Tonbridge, Harrow and Highgate Schools.

Hayley, Harriet, Danielle and Bella, who are in Year 10, debated in four rounds on motions such as ‘Major sporting events should not be held in countries with poor human rights records’ and ‘Environmentalists should choose to work more closely with corporations’.  All of them placed first in at least one of their rounds at the event, hosted by the Cambridge Union.

Danielle and Bella’s high finish means they may reach the finals in April.
