Under a blistering sun, the entire Senior School (minus Year 11 and Year 13 who are taking public exams) exerted themselves across field and track, obstacle race and welly wanging, to earn House points on Senior School Sports Day.
The Tonbridge School athletics field is a fabulous venue and the day started with the six Houses parading their Colours for the spectators lined up on the grassy bank to see.
The morning was given over to a range of athletic disciplines: Discus, High Jump, Javelin, Shot Put and Long Jump as well as the distance races. Each pupil had to take part in at least one event in the morning and a second in the afternoon novelty races.
The more gifted athletes could compete for their year group’s Pentathlon medal, the winners as follows:
Alexia | Year 7 | Chartwell |
Honey | Year 8 | Penshurst |
Araba | Year 9 | Knole |
Megan | Year 10 | Penshurst |
Darcy | Year 12 | Chartwell |
Winning the overall House Sports Cup requires team effort across the year groups. This year’s placings were as follows:
Penshurst | 1st |
Knole | 2nd |
Chartwell | 3rd |
Montreal | 4th |
Knole | 5th |
Quebec | 6th |
Huge thanks to the Sports Department for organising such an enjoyable day and to all the staff who measured, timed, consoled and celebrated with the pupils.
