Years 4 and 5 left the classroom and visited Butser Ancient Farm in Hampshire for a day of immersive learning about how people lived in Viking and Anglo-Saxon times.
Pupils were shown how to spin wool, create the dye to colour it and how to wattle a wall. They dug for archaeological finds and then warmed their hands by a fire inside a Saxon hall, just as their ancestors would have done, as they listened to the ancient sagas being retold.
