It is Mental Health Awareness Week and we have thoroughly enjoyed a series of engaging wellbeing workshops delivered by Coram Life Education.

With the help of Harold the happy giraffe, girls from Reception to Year 6 had age-appropriate sessions on recognising our own feelings, understanding the brain chemicals that create these feelings and what we can do to release more of these good chemicals into our own brains.

Q: “How is Harold going to release endorphins in his brain?” A: By being active! We also discussed how giving people our time and helping others can help release the warm, fuzzy, loved feelings created by the chemical oxytocin.

One pupil told the visiting teacher about our Wellbeing Wednesday and Friendly Friday clubs as a way of reaching that calm, happy state created by serotonin!
