Windows across the world are currently adorned with beautiful rainbows of every size and shape to spread a message of hope in these very unusual times.
A very special set of rainbows is hanging inside the Key Worker ChildCare Centre at Walthamstow Hall which have been created by the children whose parents are at the front line of the fight against Covid-19. These have been joined by a large new rainbow, now hanging outside the Centre, which has been painted by Junior School pupil, Chloe (pictured above with her artwork). Chloe was helped by School Caretaker Mr Lockwood whose children have also very kindly painted a further rainbow to act as a roadside signpost.
Rainbows have also been arriving in the post, including these beautiful ones added to the Walthamstow Hall crest by Sophie in Year 2. Together with the beautiful rainbow already hanging in the Junior School playground the whole School is displaying sincere thanks for what is being done by dedicated Key Workers. Thank you to all of our talented rainbow artists.
Junior School Rainbow Challenge
To continue to show our appreciation on an ongoing basis, the Junior School will be holding a ‘Rainbow Challenge’, joining together throughout the term to make whole-School rainbows and spread the same message of hope and thanks across the School and out into the community.
The idea for the Rainbow Challenge is very simple. Each year group has been allocated a colour from the rainbow and, every fortnight pupils will be asked to contribute a photo of a specified item or idea in that colour. The photos will then be compiled into a very special collection of rainbow art to inspire us all.
The Rainbow Challenge will start on May 15, full instructions will be sent home and participation is voluntary.
Virtual VE Day Tea Party
On Friday 8 May the Junior School will be holding a virtual commemorative Victory in Europe ‘street tea party’.
A rainbow-themed bake-along video will be uploaded to Firefly at 10.00am for families who wish to bake a rainbow cake to enjoy at their tea party on Friday afternoon.
