“Talk to three people you don’t know!” urged the speaker at our Old Girls’ Networking Event, Derek Browne, Chief Executive of Entrepreneurs in Action, an inspirational organisation which takes business mentors into universities and schools to work with students on real-world business problems.
Derek’s advice, which pulled on personal experiences from triple jumping at European Championships through to a senior career at Merrill Lynch, was easy to follow as alumnae from across the decades enjoyed drinks and canapes in the beautiful King Harald V room at the In & Out Naval Club on 18th November.
LinkedIn invites and business cards were being swapped as people mingled and many offered to come in to School to speak about their jobs and different career paths.
Three Head Girls past and present could be seen chatting, we hear they have decided to set up a regular Head Girls’ lunch date. In the end we had to ask the Club to stop serving as we needed to move the party on – always a good sign.
Big thanks to Derek for helping us all work the room, to our Old Girls’ President, Claire Jarvis and to our Chair of Governors, Mrs Adams, through whom we were able to book such a fantastic venue.
We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from this second networking event – there will be more to come. Old Girls watch this space and follow Walthamstow Hall on LinkedIn to find out more.
