The Sound of Music may be over but we wanted to extend the warmth generated by the show by sharing some of the feedback sent in to the Drama Department (thank you!) below.
Before that we must mention some of the others who helped to make it such a fantastic event. The Catering Department for the dizzyingly delicious array of interval treats: pink gin, goat biscuits, schnitzel, mini apple strudel, mini sausages in a bread bowl. Head of English Miss Mehaffey for her costume alterations. Stage Manager Lucy Curran and her backstage crew of younger students. Mr Mitchell for the set, lighting and props. Mrs Press and Mrs Seeds in the School Office for the Box Office and programme.
Feedback:
“Quite frankly I am still reeling, it was West End standard. Every element of the singing, acting, music, costume and set was a feast to behold. You must all be so proud as a faculty and I can only begin to imagine how the parents of those girls feel.”
“My daughter and I absolutely loved it last night and I was blown away by the quality of the cast, set and also the live musicians which took it to another level. It was such a joy to be able to come and watch the girls perform so thank you for putting it on and allowing us all to see it.”
“The singing was beautiful and I couldn’t help but sing along behind my mask. I was even more impressed when I realised that it wasn’t a professional band!”
“From a personal point of view, I cannot thank you enough for including my daughter in it. She has loved every aspect of being involved and I cannot tell you what it has done for her self-esteem and confidence. She has skipped into school every day that she’s had a rehearsal and come home saying how much fun it all was. I think there is a great camaraderie amongst all the girls, from the youngest to the oldest, which is lovely to hear.”
“My absolutely delighted mother called me just now from Australia to say that the live stream was superb – she could see the entire performance and the sound was fantastic! Huge thanks to you for organising this – particularly in these Covid times, where my mother would have flown over for some of the important events for the kids – it so helped for her to feel close to us all!”
“I am so envious I was not in it too – enjoyed singing along at the end though! The cast and all those involved will have such great memories of this week.”
“My daughter has derived a lot of enjoyment and some terrific life experiences in helping with the production, and for that we are very grateful to you and the school.”
“What an incredible show! It was absolutely brilliant from start to finish and I loved every minute! The standard of singing, acting and performing was incredible, especially Abby who was phenomenal. The attention to detail from the set to the costumes was fantastic and it felt like we could have been watching a show on the West End.”
“Thank you for working you magic yet again on another Wally triumph!”
“Just to let you know that the screening is brilliant. I am just so pleased that you have managed to show it. The show is absolutely phenomenal – I am blown away by the girls’ performances and the whole production.”
“I had to write to tell you how absolutely amazing we all thought the production was! Truly very professional, from the performers to the music, technicians, food and backstage helpers it was all very impressive. Many congratulations to everyone involved!”
