Our Duke of Edinburgh programme is in full swing. Over the Easter holidays ten of our Gold Award students took to the River Thames for a successful training paddle expedition from Oxford To Whitchurch.
The Year 12s all demonstrated skills such as identifying the sheltered, lea side of the river and ferry gliding from one side of the river to the other. They are now ready for an assessment on the Norfolk Broads in August.
Meanwhile, sixteen of our Y10 Silver Award candidates were in the Ashdown Forest on their practice walking expedition. They too are ready for the real thing later this year.
The weekend just gone saw our first cohort of Year 9 Bronze students do their practice expedition, hiking to the beautiful Romshed Farm for an overnight camp. Cohort 2 have their turn in a couple of weeks.
Many thanks to our dedicated DofE Co-ordinator, Mr Ramsden for all his efforts and for ensuring everything ran smoothly.
