Tuesday was Climate Day at the Junior School, which started with a great assembly led by two members of the Senior School Eco Club. The overall message of the day was to understand the trouble our planet is in and to learn what we can do to help.
Author Rachel Lawston came to Key Stage 1 and Early Years to read one of her books Finn’s Garden Friends, about a boy who moves to the city and cares for wild animals on his grandfather’s allotment. Throughout the day, pupils learned ten ways they could help the world, supported by the picture book of the same name.
They used junk to make models, planted seeds into pots they created themselves from newspaper, made bird feeders from old yoghurt pots and used litter pickers to collect rubbish.
It was an exciting day learning about all the ways we can protect our beautiful planet.
