Year 12 A Level Drama students performed a seriously dramatic devised play for their examined piece The Rose. Their play was set in England at a time of religious persecution, after the execution of Protestant Lady Jane Grey in 1554. The students took inspiration from Lorca’s play The House of Bernarda Alba, drawing on its sense of frustration, entrapment and ultimate betrayal among a family of sisters. The six actors were aided by very effective sound and lighting from the A Level Drama technical crew throughout the play, until its fiery end.
