More impressive swimming news from Imogen in Year 8. She has been selected by ESSA to swim at the International Schools Sports Federation Games in Brazil in August. Imogen will be representing Walthamstow Hall in Rio, where she will join athletes from several countries to compete in various sports and promote cultural exchange. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Imogen and we wish her all the best.
Closer to home, Imogen and Fern in Year 11 competed at the Scottish National Age Group Championships in Aberdeen over Easter. Both students qualified for finals and Imogen added two gold medals to her collection and is now the Scottish Age Group 14u girls Breaststroke Open Champion in 200m and 100m.
Imogen also took part in the British Swimming Championships in Sheffield. The competition is mainly for professional swimmers to gain international qualification times, so it was fantastic that she swam her way into the Junior 18u 100m final, taking a second off her PB. Best of all Imogen was able to warm up and race alongside Olympians.
Back on dry land, our Year 11 student Jessica performed well in Show jumping over the Easter holidays.
She jumped the Nations Cup viewing trials, jumping three rounds over four days and was placed in the top ten in all of them. The courses were tough, starting at a height of 125 on Day 1 and finishing at 140.
