Goodwood Gallery

Our Greenpower Car Club students put months of careful engineering to the test on Sunday, when they took their electric car to race at Goodwood.

The challenge to design, build and race an electric car was set up by the Greenpower Education Trust; 88 other teams were taking part on the day.

Seven students from Years 9-12, led by Head of Physics Mr Hill, made it to Goodwood for a practice drive followed by two races.  Only the younger students could drive and Iona, Poppy, Caterina and Alice each had two turns behind the wheel.

Mr Hill praised the older students’ leadership: “The Year 12s were wonderful in running the team. I was very glad to be able to follow the instructions and leave them alone. Adults weren’t allowed in the pit, so it was all down to them. They were faultless, they ran brilliant changeovers and organised the Y10s and Y9s very well.

The results were impressive, with Wally finishing in the top half in both races; 42nd out of 88 in the first and 40th in the second.

Many thanks to our generous sponsors for enabling us to buy the kit car in the first place and to pursue the dream: WHF&P, Rosemary M, Team Froud, Catalyst Business Consulting, The May Family, Dandycorp Productions, Emily Cates, The Davie Family, Rebecca Davie, Lisa Robinson, Sam Yuide, Pandora Fox, The Ford Family, Atelier Design Consultants.
