This is a good news day for our students collecting their GCSE results this morning, with 31% of all exams taken being awarded a grade 9.
The number of students achieving grade 8 or 9 for every GCSE represents an increase from 13% in 2019 to 21% this Summer.
From Biology to RS, and Chemistry to English Language, there were outstanding subject results across the board. Reflecting on her department’s results, Head of English, Sue Mehaffey, said, ” We are thrilled with these outstanding English results. They are a testament to the pupils’ hard work, enthusiasm and ambition.” Head of RS, and Assistant Head of Sixth Form, Dan Pollen added, “I am absolutely delighted with this year’s Religious Studies results. The students here at Wally continue to impress me year on year. They have shown resilience, hard-work, determination and good humour to keep developing and improving and the results are the outcome of this process. They should all be so proud of themselves.”
Speaking at the celebratory breakfast for students, parents and teachers in the Hub this morning, Headmistress, Louise Chamberlain said, “I am delighted to celebrate the individual success stories and the superb teaching that underpins today’s GCSE results. The students have a fantastic platform for Sixth Form success and our Sixth Form team can’t wait to welcome them in September.”
