Norfolk Broads Gold Expedition
Congratulations to all the students who completed Duke of Edinburgh expeditions over the summer. Twenty-eight students passed their Silver assessments on the South Downs and seven students completed their Gold with a four-day paddle on the Norfolk Broads with Tonbridge School boys – all passed with flying colours.
We caught up with a couple of the Gold participants back on dry land. Deputy Head Girl Abi said everyone was very pleased to have passed and to have enjoyed themselves along the way: “We were out paddling on the water for eight hours every day, so to pass the time we had some debates with the Tonbridge boys. One of them was ‘Who has a harder time, boys or girls?’ And we managed to see both sides of the story.”
Alicia, Year 13, said she enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and perfect weather and that “it felt like going on a trip with friends, not just doing DofE!”
Huge thanks must go to our Duke of Edinburgh Manager, Mr Ramsden for his unstinting enthusiasm, encouragement and efficiency. Mr Ramsden also thanked Economics teacher Mr Dewey for assessing the Silver teams in July, and to his external DofE Leader colleagues.
