We are delighted to share that Walthamstow Hall has earned an Eco-Schools Green Flag 2023-24. This is our third award from Eco-Schools, the body which encourages and recognises young people’s efforts to make environmental changes in their school and everyday lives.
In its feedback, Eco-Schools said it was “evident that young people in your school are aware of environmental issues and passionate about protecting our planet – your large Eco-Committee, totalling 48 members, clearly demonstrates this”.
The evidence we submitted included examples of environmental education in our curriculum. We also highlighted the work of our Wildlife and Gardening Clubs to enhance and promote nature in our local environment. Our Carbon Week held in October helped reduce the number of car journeys carrying only one student, encouraging parents to share lifts using the Classlist app.
Eco-Schools also praised the way our Eco-Committee spread news about the work they were doing via whole-School assemblies and our inhouse Wally Eco-Mag digital publication. Pictured above are Elizabeth and Ava, the outgoing Year 13 Eco-Committee leaders.
Many thanks to Creative Arts Teacher, Eco-Schools co-ordinator and Wildlife Club leader Mrs Brown for all her efforts in spearheading Wally green activities.
