Autumn term skies may be grey but the School Science labs are all bathed in glorious technicolour.
Junior STEM club watched coloured water ‘walk’ between beakers using kitchen paper and Year 6 learnt about refraction and the colour of light whilst Year 5 and 6 pupils joined Science Club at the Senior School to find out what chemicals are used to make the different colours in fireworks. There were plenty of practical experiments for each girl to do so she could discover the answers for herself and see how each chemical produces a different colour flame. Under controlled conditions, girls also saw how using an oxidiser can make the chemicals explode.
