Team work, imagination and initiative were all in play on the Junior School Creativity Day in November.
The theme was ‘The Journey’ and girls considered Buddha’s quote “It is better to travel well than to arrive” and Dr Seuss’s book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” in group discussions, before a day of getting stuck in.
They used textiles and collage materials to dress a figure they had made, for a frieze depicting the biblical ‘Journey to Bethlehem’. The frieze is 12 metres long!
In the afternoon, the girls worked in groups to plan and build a ‘journey’ around the school, complete with challenging obstacles such as the ‘Lava Ladder’ and the ‘Octopus Tree’.
They then had to travel through these hazards, working together and supporting each other until the journey’s end.
It was a day of joy, creativity, industry and challenge.
