We were absolutely thrilled to hear on Saturday morning that Walthamstow Hall Old Girl, Professor Beverley Hunt has been made an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday list, for services to medicine. Beverley is Professor of Thrombosis and Haemostasis at King’s College, Director of the Haemostasis Research Unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and Co-founder and Medical Director of the thrombosis charity, Lifeblood, amongst many other roles.
Beverley is a great friend to and supporter of the School, driving the establishment of a Sixth Form Science Bursary as well as being a President and Treasurer for the Old Girls Association. Many, many congratulations on this wonderful and very well deserved recognition.
It has been a very honourable year for Walthamstow Hall alumnae, Rosemary (BROOK) James was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to sport and the community, at the end of 2018, and Lucy Lake, CEO of the international charity supporting marginalised girls into education in Africa, received an OBE in the New Year’s Honours list.
