Forest School
Forest School enables pupils to explore their natural woodland environment in all weathers throughout the different seasons. It aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, independent and creative learners.
Each class from Nursery through to Year 3 receives at least half a term of sessions in Forest School. From Nursery to Year 2, Forest School forms part of the Wellbeing Programme, along with Yoga and ‘Go Green’ – which is a series of activities promoting environmental awareness.
Each session equates to three lessons on the timetable and takes place within the School grounds.
Our Forest School Leader is an outside specialist with the top Level Three Forest School qualifications and is assisted by one of our own teachers who is also a Level Three Forest School practitioner. Where appropriate, elements of the indoor curriculum are incorporated into the sessions, enriching the pupils’ classroom work.
